SSE Airtricity League Premier Division
Waterford FC -v- Limerick
Friday, May 18, 2018
Kick Off: 7.45pm
Referee: Graham Kelly
Waterford FC will look to get back to winning ways this Friday against Limerick at the RSC after consecutive draws on the road in the past week.
Since the last home match two weeks ago, the Blues have drawn with Shamrock Rovers, before a late concession on Monday against Bray Wanderers saw the Blues leave with just a point. After falling behind early in the Carlisle Grounds, the Blues turned the game around and were in front going into the final minutes but for a late Bray penalty to make it 2-2.
The visit of Limerick marks the midway point of the Premier Division season, with the Blues having won 10 of their 17 games so far which included beating Limerick in the opening meeting between the sides at the end of March. Courtney Duffus and Paul Keegan struck either side of half-time in the Market’s Field to give the Blues a 2-0 win.
Speaking ahead of the game, Waterford FC manager Alan Reynolds was disappointed to concede late on Monday in Bray and is expecting a tough challenge from Limerick on Friday.
“Limerick will prove another challenge for us too. We’ve beaten them once already away from home but they’ll come here looking for a win and we have to be ready for that. They’ve only narrowly lost their last two games and have been improving – so we’re aware of that and will be ready to go. Our home form has been excellent and we know how important the fans will be again for that on Friday.
“Bray Wanderers on Monday was a tough one and I was disappointed not to take the points, especially conceding right at the end of the match after we’d come from behind. But we’ve also been on the end of it like scoring late in Sligo so we move on and look forward.
“We played well and probably had enough chances in the second half to win but we’ve trained well since and we’re raring to go.”
TEAM NEWS: Waterford FC will again be without John Kavanagh (knee) and Garry Comerford (foot). Kenny Browne is still struggling with a hip problem and is expected to miss out again.
